Community and business leaders will gather at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate a new housing complex in Keokuk, Iowa. Deer Meadow Apartments provide high-quality, affordable housing for adults age 62 and older. |
Deer Meadow Apartments, located at 715 Cleveland Avenue, is a brick, one-story design on a 2.6-acre site across from the Elks Fairview Golf Course in Keokuk. The $1.8 million development includes 24 one-bedroom apartment units with private entrances. Each offers individually controlled heat and air conditioning, window blinds and a full-size kitchen and bath. A community room and centralized laundry facility are available for use by residents. Additionally, the Lee County Health Department provides on-site wellness clinics, financial counseling and crisis assistance. |
Deer Meadow Apartments was developed by Burns & Burns, L.C. of Iowa City, Iowa and was made possible through a $745,000 investment by Alliant Energy Resources through its affordable housing subsidiary, Heartland Properties, Inc. The City of Keokuk, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Iowa Finance Authority and the Iowa Department of Economic Development provided additional financial support. |
