Two events to celebrate the completion of Lake Country Senior Village, a new housing development for adults age 55 and older in Montello, Wisconsin, will be held in early September.
The development partners, along with state and local business leaders, will gather for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and luncheon at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5. An open house will also be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on National Grandparents Day, Sunday, Sept. 8. Both events are open to the public and will feature tours of the property at 101 Village Square in Montello.
Lake Country Senior Village was developed by CAP Services, Inc., a non-profit community action agency serving central Wisconsin, and Seno Companies. It was made possible through a $900,000 investment by Alliant Energy through its affordable housing subsidiary, Heartland Properties, Inc. Additional financial support was provided by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, Amcore Bank-Montello, WHEDA, Wisconsin Division of Housing, John Deere Credit and Capital Square Financial Corporation.
Construction of the 20-unit, housing development was completed in June 2002 and is at 90 percent occupancy. The property offers two distinct styles of apartment homes. One building houses 10 one-bedroom units; the other has 10 two-bedroom apartment homes. Amenities include a community room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities and a computer workstation with Internet connection.
"We're pleased to have played a role in making this property a reality," says Karl Pnazek, president and CEO, CAP Services, Inc. "The demand for affordable senior housing continues to escalate in central Wisconsin. Lake Country Senior Village helps address that need in Montello. It is an attractive, functional, high-quality development many people are proud to call home."
Russ Kaney, director of housing investments for Heartland Properties, says, "At Heartland Properties, we focus on establishing community partnerships in order to create affordable housing solutions. Lake Country Senior Village is a shining example of that mission at work. Everyone involved in this property development deserves praise for their vision and commitment to meeting the long-term housing needs of older adults in Montello - especially CAP Services."
Lake Country Senior Village is the first new senior housing development in Montello in more than 20 years. "The apartment homes leased up very quickly," adds Kaney. "This underscores the property's necessity and provides incentive to explore additional development opportunities in the future."
