Heartland Properties, Inc. (HPI), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Resources, recently submitted its 2001 Affordable Housing Tax Credit applications to the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA).
This highly competitive tax credit program received more than 54 applications, requesting a total of $12.9 million in tax credits. This year, Wisconsin has $7.8 million in credits to allocate for housing development.
Heartland Properties sponsored four applications for affordable housing in Elkhorn, Montello, Reedsburg and Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. WHEDA is in the process of reviewing the applications and making site visits to each of the communities. If all HPI developments are approved by WHEDA, Alliant Energy will invest more than $5.3 million into these communities, creating 132 apartment homes.
"Alliant Energy Account Managers are of particular help to HPI in working with community leaders to identify critical housing needs and locate available sites," said Dean Baumgardner, vice president-Heartland Properties. "HPI appreciates the team support."
Successful projects will be announced later this spring. More information about the applications is available from Russ Kaney, director of housing investments-Heartland Properties at (608) 286-2329.
