Heartland Properties Inc. (HPI) continues to score positive attention for its good works in Alliant Energy's utility service territory. A recent tax credit workshop, held April 10 and 11 in Ames, Iowa, was no exception.
More than 180 community leaders, non-profit organizations and housing providers attended "Housing Tax Credits: Mastering the Basics," which was sponsored by HPI and a number of other state housing organizations.
The agenda included Hon. Sally J. Pederson, Iowa's lieutenant governor; Mike Tramontina, executive director of the Iowa Finance Authority; and C.J. Niles, director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
HPI and Alliant Energy received considerable visibility throughout the conference. Three HPI staff members also gave presentations. Sara Shimek, compliance coordinator-HPI; Dean Baumgardner, vice president-HPI; and Russ Kaney, director of housing investments-HPI, spoke on topics of tax credit compliance, adaptive reuse of historic buildings and structuring public/private partnerships.
"It was a pleasure to work with the state of Iowa on this important program," said Ruth Domack, president-HPI.
"The workshop provided an opportunity to reach a broad cross-section of community leaders interested in expanding affordable housing."
Heartland Properties, a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Resources, is a sponsor of high-quality affordable housing for families and older adults in the Alliant Energy service territory.
