Heartland Properties Inc. (HPI) continues to score positive attention for its good works in Alliant Energy's utility service territory. A recent tax credit workshop, held April 10 and 11 in Ames, Iowa, was no exception. |
More than 180 community leaders, non-profit organizations and housing providers attended "Housing Tax Credits: Mastering the Basics," which was sponsored by HPI and a number of other state housing organizations. |
The agenda included Hon. Sally J. Pederson, Iowa's lieutenant governor; Mike Tramontina, executive director of the Iowa Finance Authority; and C.J. Niles, director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development. |
HPI and Alliant Energy received considerable visibility throughout the conference. Three HPI staff members also gave presentations. Sara Shimek, compliance coordinator-HPI; Dean Baumgardner, vice president-HPI; and Russ Kaney, director of housing investments-HPI, spoke on topics of tax credit compliance, adaptive reuse of historic buildings and structuring public/private partnerships. |
"It was a pleasure to work with the state of Iowa on this important program," said Ruth Domack, president-HPI. |
"The workshop provided an opportunity to reach a broad cross-section of community leaders interested in expanding affordable housing." |
