Heartland Properties, Inc. is conducting a Fall Property Tour on Tuesday, October 17, 2000. Many community leaders and housing providers from across the area served by Alliant Energy have expressed an interest in viewing the properties in Heartland's portfolio. It is with great pleasure that we provide this opportunity for you to view some of our favorite historic landmark buildings that have been converted to housing. The tour will also highlight new properties designed for families and older adults.
The tour will leave the Heartland offices in downtown Madison by motor coach at 8:00 a.m. and return to Madison around 4:45 p.m. The Tour is free with lunch and refreshments provided.
The tour will feature many buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Their successful adaptive reuse is a result of public/private partnerships with local communities and organizations. The Brickner Woolen Mills, for instance, is part of the Sheboygan Falls Main Street initiative and received the "Best Adaptive Reuse Project" award from the Wisconsin Main Street Program. You will have the opportunity to talk with residents, property management staff, and community representatives concerning the development and operation of each property.
Other properties on the tour include Whitney Hotel Apartments in Columbus, The Landings in Waupun and DeNeveu Creek Retirement Community in Fond du Lac. In Sheboygan the tour will stop at Jung Shoe Apartments, Levernez Apartments, and Sunnyside Townhomes.
