Ribbon Cutting to Celebrate Housing Expansion in Maquoketa

New Whitetail Run Apartments Unveiled

Community and business leaders will gather at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 21 for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of a new housing complex in Maquoketa, Iowa. Whitetail Run Apartments will provide high-quality, affordable housing for adults age 62 and older.

Whitetail Run Apartments, located at 801 Myatt Drive, is a brick, one-story design on a three-acre site on the west side of Maquoketa near Highway 61. The $1.6 million development includes 24 one-bedroom apartments with individual entrances. Each offers individually controlled heat and air conditioning, window blinds and a full-size kitchen and bath. A community room and centralized laundry facility are available for use by residents.

Whitetail Run Apartments was developed by Burns & Burns, L.C. of Iowa City, Iowa and was made possible through a $770,000 investment by Alliant Energy Resources through its affordable housing subsidiary, Heartland Properties, Inc. A tour, including refreshments, will be held immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony. Other event specifics follow:

Many other organizations contributed to the success of Whitetail Run Apartments, including the USDA Rural Development Program and the Iowa Department of Economic Development.

It's the finalization of over six years of hard work and collaboration to bring housing to Maquoketa. We're pleased with this quality addition to our community."

Scott Fitzpatrick, Iowa Housing Manager for Heartland Properties, Inc., adds that as Iowa's population continues to age, providing affordable housing options for older adults is increasingly important.
