Deer Run, constructed in 1991, provides 32 apartments for older adults in Portage. This mixed-income development uses the Housing Tax Credit program to keep rents affordable to seniors earning less than 60% of Columbia County median income. In addition, four apartments are specially designed for the frail elderly and individuals with physical disabilities. Deer Run, made possible through Heartland's investment, is a three-story elevator building with one and two bedroom apartments. Garages are also available. Deer Run offers a community center, which allows residents and community members to meet for a variety of social activities.
