When Heartland began working with the Alexander Company on redevelopment of the Fox Mills, the buildings were vacant and in extremely poor condition. Once the center of economic activity, the area had long since become a blighting influence on the community. The City reallocated funds earmarked for demolition to help with planning and environmental clean-up of the site. As a result of this partnership, the Fox Mills once again serve as a cornerstone of the riverfront and downtown Appleton. The unique mixed-income apartments blend features of the old industrial buildings with modern amenities, meeting the housing needs of the city's workforce. |
